Out of Your Head
I was in a group consisting of 3 people. We are from different countries. We have different knowledge and cultures. It was a thing that we are a
team that allows us to have a chance of unity. It was also the first time having a group work together. Still, it is a challenge and a learning of real
society after graduation. It is because, I can learn from other group members of how they solve a problem when they get stuck. I like how
individual work is stuck when the person is stuck but group work has a solution to it to ask one another. We could teach ourselves when we can
teach. Howver, we are at an early stage of learning. The resource is so important- the other group members. Therefore I liked the project.
At the beginning of the stage we were planning to make a clay animation. It didn’t come out of nowhere but we picked words form a cloud. We
picked village, clay and shadow. We had a good storyteller which was Jade, came up with a story of a triangle. An acceptance and keep asking
was so important to stick to Jade and push work more. Unfortuantly, we didn’t get storyboard right away. When we were producing, Sofya was
concentrating on many details which came out so good on the scene. For example, There were frames on the wall but the arrangement was
perfect.
When we tried to name the movie, we struggled. Something like absorbing, engulfing and symbiosis were suggested. I was thinking maybe best
friend would work for the title. I thought it was only the beginning of the stage when it was working as a title. Jade was denying symbiosis even if
it was her idea to have it as the title. It was because the shadow is not a friend but a whole with the triangle. Jade was stuck because she didn’t
want to tell the watcher the end of the movie in the title. I asked what is the reason of the ending. We found out from the question, that the
reason caused the ending can be the name. Live inside, it was the name of the movie.
Traditional Animation
In my outcome, I came up with several traditional animation that are couple of seconds. I am happy because I finally learned how traditional
work of animation are made. I could make more of a perfection if I had a bit more drawing skill because a traditional animation is 2D.
Handdrawn works are not my best but I really tried to produce smooth animations. I have animations include arcs of motion, timing, squash
and stretch. While I was making bouncy ball, I liked how I can feel the movement of a ball bouncing as I draw the way it goes. I hated it when
the bouncy ball has different level of bouncing each time it hits floor. If I was feeling it in real life, I could be a bit more realistic. The concept of
an animation using two words is unfortunately foggy in my mind. However, it was such as gross and eyes. I therefore made many small
creatures so I can express fear of little demons. It is because I dislike small to big bugs. After the traditional animation, I felt how hard it is to
concentrate and keep working with a lightbox and thousands of drawing papers.
3D STORY WORLDS
I think my final outcome is good for the title ‘Flying squirrel home’. I was suspicious of lighting but in the outcome the lighting is certainly fine
so I like it. I think I can make the ground more lively because it is somewhat flat if I have a chance later. I have planned to make a diorama of a
squirrel home. I was always wondered what if there is a home for them that is similar to human of how the home is useful. For example, a cat
can use a cat tower. So, because I remembered that I have had created some flying squirrel characters, I really imagined I can build home for
them, Just like they are living in a civilized home by themselves. I used poly shapes and adjusted them. I really liked how I can build 3D as I
wanted. In the process, I felt it was a bit hard to understand how maya works. After I did all this, I could already say that I am choosing 3D
animation to learn more in the future.
Photographics
I have always liked to take photos of the sky. I figure out how to take unique shots using random things for example, plane, moon and
branches. In this shot, I caught two moon at one photo. Clearly not I did in real. I used two photos that include a moon. We don’t say it but in
this photo, we can say it ‘moons’ and I like it. In the middle of searching a good photo to take, I was wondering with a camera while looking up
the sky. I asked why the sky is very clear. The sky is clear because it has to shine the complex ground. Therefore, I can tell that a sky cannot
explain itself with only it. I also added a spice by using couple of moons to show mystery. I used photoshop to make the photo. It was a
valuable experience bacause I have never used a photoshop properly before. I know it by now and I am really happy. I know how levels of
layers work in photoshop. I know how to crop a object clearly in photoshop. From the overall experience, I also has built a courage that I can
use photoshop.
Motiongraphics
Brief Concept
I tried to represent conversation between two people as connection. I converted words to images. If only words are shown as images, they are
easy to be understand since people believe what they see. On the other hand, I tried to express inconvienience between two people who are
one talking but the other speak using image. They don’t connect anymore. I therefore define the circumstance as empathic and not empathic
moment between the two. Furthermore, If the inconvenience is kept for a while, I can imagine what will happen next. People who are
empathic will blame the opposite since the empathic people are more likely to feel connected.
I used Puppet pin to move around the character. I mostly trimpassed and transformed my assets. I collected and drew my assets in a comics
drawing program. I like my outcome which was quite successfully puppet pined. However I think I could learn more with trimpassing texts. I
found it hard doing it. I could also make even more use of photos and comics assets. I could do better if I reach to it.
I think it was a good experience to use After Effects because I like to move 2D images.
Character Design
In my outcome, I have a character in a black dress with a weapon. I like my colour palettes are pastel but still pretty strong because the
character has a strong contrast. Winter is glowing and it is white. How am I going to make the character stand out? I asked myself. I therefore
thought why is it white. There are trees without leaves. They have contrasts with the white snow. I answered the question myself that I am
going to use contrasts and some pastel colours with black. I painted colour thumbnails and final character turnarounds. I used photoshop to
paint. I am inspired by a winter flower called camelia. I think I could make a character non human later. It is because when I was deciding what
to make, I liked to make a monster. However, connecting to the theme winter, I liked to make a person who can feel the nature more. Once I
heard that when people get old, they lose dreams. They don’t explain the feature of seasons anymore. They express either it is warm or cold.
If a season was a person, I would definitly tell that the season can express really far deeply.
Creative Writing
Prompt: This has got to stop
Dohwa writes simple. He deforms his own writing Lines on his paper are shreded. His line is restructured to letters. Richness is on each letter. Dohwa gazes down to his written letters. Writings are no more even words. Dohwa makes up a line using a few words. He just can’t get much done concentrating. Instead of letting out his genuine masterpiece, he chooses to go for a walk. The atmospheric energy from outside surrounds him. He doesn’t feel much. He inhales vitality from wild air. Dohwa glimpses at a person passing by. He can now see the bones, fleshes and guts that built up the passenger. Finally, Dohwa is eager to feel more about the stranger. Dohwa pushes the passenger. Random guy doesn’t move. Dohwa likes the carmer of encounter and beats from his gut. Will the passenger also like the experience. Dowha exhales air.
Reflection
I wrote refer to my imagination of a person who likes breaking things. He is a writer, who starts breaking from there to everything. I think in
my outcome, there could be some errors so I could work on it more. However, I think the problematic view of him is well shown so I like it. In
the middle stage of writing, I was thinking of a Picasso reference. He broke into art when he finally reached the maximum that he could learn
in art. He then built something really extraordinary to influence people and himself. I was influenced by it. I was in a dark concept of scary
story that the character in my story ‘Dowha’ wants himself destruct human body just like destructing lines to words. I always felt writing was
hard. I even started to read books just now because my life has changed a bit. From the overall experience, I believe that an understanding of
how a scene to another continues refers to the understanding of why a situation or thought happened. So, If I want to build story, I need to
ask why a certain thinking is suggested in the story. Then I can write.

I used following programs;
Audacity
Goldwave
Splice
I used Audacity and goldwave at the same time to adjust my sound. I then moved on to splice to make the sound into the film which goes to the final part. For collection of sounds, I found my voice, a bag of little ketchup and fabric as my sources. I accidently was gained a rasor sound in Audacity while I was editing sound. I liked it so I put it into the film.
In my first film, I put some ketchup sound with a paper. I always was wondering how I will use ketchup cleanly while I am eating. The paper reminds me a clean value. Second film, spill cat food is being eaten by a cat. The sound is rasor, maybe something mad is happening. A cat is eating faster and faster. Third, I drew some inky drawings representing sceinarios. I mixed up my voice of saying “ah” to obtain a music.
I find the buttons on the programs are hard to control. I want to know the right way to use them. I think I can work on it consistently.
I like the final outcome of 30 seconds and the indooe to outdoor animation. I have several different sounds like a palette of sounds when I
prepare to make a video out of. It was really good to have a walk in the industry to capture the atmosphere. It was really inflencing how I
cannot tell what is going on around myself but there are clues in the sound. Then I can at least ask with that little clues around myself. ‘What
does that sound mean?’ ‘What can I do to hear that more often?’ In the middle of my producing, I used Splice the application to cut and stick
videos. I then removed the original sound. Instead, I put a sound made from the application Audition by myself. Using Audition first time was
quite challenging. However, if I keep learning how to use audition, it will be so cool when I can produce background music. Furthermore, I
liked a concept to put in my video that it shows a real occations but not a fantasy. Overall, it was a very new experience for me the soun
rotation. I think that is the reason why I liked it so much.
