Collections project

I produce three collections project. Even if I look back to my own art, it doesn’t mean that I am relying on the art I did in the past. I am adjusting reality by looking back to reflect on. I need time to dissolve past moment. Also, my memory exposing itself through memos inform me to do the reflection when I have time, by hashtags of similar topics in content. I cannot left behind my not finished 12000k memos. Since most of them are drafts I want to refine them by reflective writings on them. So that one of my collection becomes reference of the memos.

I found stories and characters from content of memos. I want to refine them because the memos mention me to do. Some of them are just quick scribble of thoughts. However, several stories are so dense that they want me to finish or even they say it directly in the content. I can start the project by first of all, making a collection of failure art. By saying “failure” I mean somehow they failed to inspire others or even myself. They have potential to develop but still so messy.

I want to produce some dense and subtle art in sequence art and animated short. If I can use adobe editors such as After Effects and Illustrator the life will be easier and happier. I want a collection of edited backgrounds of streets near my home by illustrator. I captions them just like if a story and characters are in them.

Personal object

There was an opportunity to share each other’s important objects with classmate. It happened with respecting other personal memories that are included in their objects. I could really think of what to bring. I was able to choose a piece of watermelon. You may wonder why.

Are you aware that there is a exhibition with an artpiece of actual banana? The artist thinks it has a sense of humor. However, several audiences feel hard to understand. Get to the point, I thought to do the same because one of his near friend ate the banana and switched to a new one to prevent it going bad. Then, the artist mentioned that the meaning and soul of artwork is still remaining in the art piece.

By stating above, I explained why I tried. I have a thought with my watermelon piece but more personal then the artist. I always feel ashamed how I was thinking only myself

Reflection on my outcome

Photo I took from Into the space exhibition

I have been thinking of visualising concepts since I worked on the shapes and pictures of walls in my area. I noticed beautiful natural objects around my area which the building walls are in the same mood. I could clearly see that the person built the building was inspired the same way in nature by obtaining preserved area. After that, I gained idea from Lawrence Lek to turn natural object to a creation such as pattern and imagery to add on my character design. Also, I inspired by the development into old ages in the book I referenced. I liked effectiveness of conceptualizing characters by building from inspirations of an artist and environment.

I thought of a flipbook based on the workshop of zines and my own zine I produced last time. I transformed my storyboard into a sequence art in my outcome. It was fascinating to combine pages where I find composition of frames such as two vertical pages open together. Furthermore, I could work on Adobe illustrator in later use because the tool is for simplified drawings and paintings. I think I could use my own photo to turn painting when I choose “low quality image” setting for a image trace. For example, I will capture images that I need then turn them to other forms by using a different tool.

Reflection on my three possible outcome ideas

If I produce my outcome in three different form, I could try three things. For example, I could use Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop to make drawings. I could use Illustrator to make my drawings vector. Vector images for some backgrounds will be great. I could move my progress into Adobe Photoshop or After Effect to produce animation and add some movie for visual effects.

On other hand, I will create a boardgame with Twine. I could produce a webpage storyboard using Twine. Then I will produce 3d figures of characters using 3D printers. Finally, I could produce a flipbook using stitched zine by drawing and glueing pictures. I think choosing a flipbook to be my outcome was a good idea in case of efficiency and crafty action. I think I could use photoshop movie for later to combine with vector edited pictures because it is great to use variety of tools to edit.

Creative Journey

I had a zine making workshop as a great experience. I could observe storyboards in constructed flipbooks. I tried my draft by researching several artists such as Ramdaram, Arbert Herber and Quentin Lacombe. In progress, I created couple of ways to make zines. I had a option to produce it vertically but I wanted a landscape feature of TV. Therefore I tried to contact readers with informations of my Westminster Abbey experience. At that moment, I started growing my idea for the storyboard. I could make details on characters in the scenes.

I want some efficiency in my work if I would like to develop later. By efficiency, I mean swiftening idea values. In my progress, I could make some background image, lines, stitched flipbook and smooth storyboard. They took times to be there without many tools. However, I still feel a lack of subtle things. I could use of adobe programmes more if I want to take advantage. In an occation where more efficiency is flooding in an idea subtleness may have place more.

Reflection of Westminster Abbey and the streets

I worked on the architectures of main streets and buildings. The reason why I chose the place was that the building was which I could grow my imagination and information both at a time. I liked the atmosphere bur only I could feel pain at back of my neck. I could hear birds and people as the space maintains natural environment and crowds. I could discover extraordinary patterns by obtaining shapes of surroundings. I had a sit on a bench near a building. I could slowly capture images from acting that. I want to develop on drawings and presentations since I cannot deliver what I look if I don’t produce through my hand. I wish if I could observe something from above when I find a way or next time.

Inside Transformer: A Rebirth of Wonder at 180 The Strand

The exhibition happened in an underground floor of 180 The Strand. The entrance to the exhibition can be found near the car park. Introductory flip books are placed near the entrance allowing visitors a quick look inside. 180 the strand constructed in U shape form with a comparatively bigger room in the middle. There are name tags for each artist on the wall of black panel with glowing light coming though it near each artist room.

Bew (2019) notes that ‘Transformer: A Rebirth of Wonder opens today and with it, an immersive journey through the subterranea of Temple, buoyed by the works of contemporary art’s key storytellers.’

Quentin Lacombe represents infinity within a finite space. His published book, Even Horizon implies a black hole with no returning since light cannot escape. No events are no longer can be witnessed. From his artwork I realised he might want to express 4th dimension theory through his art piece. His room is limited but it is not in 4th dimension all including extraordinary aliens he represents by the wall from his book. Since the creatures are abstract, fractured and disrupted by laser beams, they show light and 4th dimension would open the future. His photographs depict extraordinary world using mutations created from normal animals and natural organisms exist with equal rights and importance. Therefore, they represent clues for saving society and protection for the environment. On the other hand, Lawrence Lek tries to create an in- between space of his virtual space. He conflates fiction of his films and the fabric of real environment to create a space with a soundtrack of his music. I think the frame he produced is fabulous which triggers flashbacks to the audiences’ eyes of imageries between time, space and location using video- game engines. I can feel present from his work and the future because his hybrid world is continued forever.

I thought art is limited in photo shoots, a camera angle and in a sketchbook. By seeing work in exhibition, I notice that the gallery informs future exist in infinite space where might seem like it is finite within a shallow looking. However, from a distance of different viewpoint, a photo frame has opportunity to be distributed as infinite in a form of photo montage. For example, photographs of Manuel Harlan London street shoots. I could look for David Hockney’s work if I ever wanted more because he is a qualified artist of using photo montage. A sketchbook will no longer limited with a dense thoughts are available according to the work of Quentin Lacombe. Into the visualisation process, I would apply photo montage into panorama looking for actual background for my storyboard.

Reflection of my outcome -demonstration project

I produced my outcome of demostration project of film in a form of storyboard, moodboard, draft, refind draft and primary research. I think my moodboard has shown my atmospheric theme well. That leads to my point on the project. I liked draft of my film because of an ending scene. However, after refining I realised of cutting certain scene to give even more impact. For example, I extracted last two scenes where CCTV sign shows up and door being closed continuously for a minute to give audience feelings. I instead received feedback and applied cutaways of zooming holes in the whole film. I definitly aware it is more impactive when the cutaways jumps scene by scene to make audience think refer to purpose of cutaways.

I could improve of maintaining even more safe environment where to take my primary research in case when I need a public bathroom pictures. I could find out when to visit it by knowing where people are not necessary of it. Also, I could improve on my refined draft by making it clearer. In order to achieve that, I could maintain lines and shapes repesented even clearer that allows eyes clearly drawn from main object to details. I am intrigued to develop my ideas further using other medias in photo workshop and IT workshop to do it above.

Primary and secondary research reflection -demonstration project

I started processing my project by taking photos in my collage. Which went quite successful even though I needed some patience waiting for the place to be clear. I waited people to pass by, then took several photos in public bathroom for the use of background in my storyboard in near future.

Photo taken by myself at Kubrick exhibition

Then I went to Kubrick exhibition to be inspired by his movie. I had achieve deeper understanding of film. It finally made my storyboard more develop in a way of looking angle, space and object.

I saw a film called Blue velvet by David Lynch. I receieved high inspiration when the movie starts with confidence but several signs indicating dead and worst outcomes. I thought I could used this kind of scenes in my storyboard either to indicate bad things happening in future.
